Dear Caudata.org Peers;
Alexia Fry of Australia is undertaking a unique herp-related web-survey as part of her doctoral thesis. I’d like to support Ms Fry as best I can, and since I want to make sure that this croc-cane toad-and-goanna-surrounded researcher gets some tail-amphibian input, I encourage each of you to go to the Deakin University website given below to read in details about Ms Fry’s efforts and requirements. If it’s of interest to you, please contribute.
I’m making a special request to my our friends in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Holland and Russia to consider participating in the poll if they are comfortable enough in their English-language ability to participate.
Ms Fry is attempting to create a global-snapshot of the herpetological community – professional and amateur, and we newt-people tend to get left out of the great scheme of things when it comes to surveys..
I would take your consideration of your participation as a personal favour.
In the doctoral candidates own words …
My name is Alexia Fry and I am undertaking this research as my PhD project in sociology through Deakin University in Australia.
I would like to invite you to find out more about the global herpetological community and to be a part of the research process by completing the websurvey at this website http://www.deakin.edu.au/arts/herpetological.
In addition, if you are comfortable with what you will read about my project, I would really appreciate your support in disseminating it through any other avenues that you have available to you that reach people with herpetological interests.
…
The survey comes in two parts; 1. a general who are you and how did you get into herps and how deeply; and the second is another short questionaire for those willing to be contacted later for an in-depth interview.
Thank you for your kind attention;
I now return you to your regular programming;
Respectfully
Wes
