Hello, I have a paddle tail newt and was just wandering if it is neccessary to have a filter in my 6 gallon tank for it. Everyday I look in the tank and when there is waste i siphon it out with a turkey baster since i have sand at bottom. I change the water once a week and just realized that the filter is probly just making the water hotter since its summer and I'm trying to keep the water temp down. But then again maybe they need some type of current?

My group of animals enjoy current in their habitat. If you don't want to use a back filter, I would suggest a sponge filter or an air stone that is run by an air pump. They do come from fast flowing streams in their natural habitat and I think some type or current would be a good thing for your newt. Please read the below care sheet for all the info you need. Good luck with your critter :)
