Hi folks

Will P.chineses male tail, develop whitish sheen like P.hongkongsis?

cos my big black male seems to have a light sheen recently. :D

or was it fungus?

thanks

Yes, they develop tail sheens - i guess all Paramesotriton do.

Indeed they do.
May i make a little correction? It´s not P.chineses, it´s P.chinensis (And P.hongkongensis for that matter).

hi folks,

thanks for the confirmation.

do you have any pictures of the white sheen?
would like to compare with my big black male.

thanks again

Hi, maybe this will help. It is a video posted on "YouTube", and is from a moderator of this site... The tail sheen is clearly visible. I think this is maybe one of the few examples of paramesotriton courtship....

Make note of the cloacal folicles, they are a great clue as to breeding readiness. Males only will have this. Just wanted to point out the details so you can properly diagnose what is going on with yours.
