I've been inspired by the recent habitat photos of Japan, California, etc. so I decided to take a few of my own here in Missouri
My first stop, a pond in Webster County that contains both Ambystoma maculatum and Notophthalmus v. louisianensis.
Some A. maculatum egg masses.
More eggs showing Oophila algae colonies.
A closeup.
Today, however, the pond was crawling with amplexed pairs of dwarf american toads, Bufo americanus charlesmithi
Laying eggs.
And a photo of the nearby forest.
oh, and this one is for you, Mike G! For the rest of the people here who may not be turtle-savvy, it's a 3-toed box turtle, Terrapene carolina triunguis
