I've been inspired by the recent habitat photos of Japan, California, etc. so I decided to take a few of my own here in Missouri

My first stop, a pond in Webster County that contains both Ambystoma maculatum and Notophthalmus v. louisianensis.

Some A. maculatum egg masses.

More eggs showing Oophila algae colonies.

Today, however, the pond was crawling with amplexed pairs of dwarf american toads, Bufo americanus charlesmithi

And a photo of the nearby forest.

oh, and this one is for you, Mike G! For the rest of the people here who may not be turtle-savvy, it's a 3-toed box turtle, Terrapene carolina triunguis

So who's the patient guy who always let you use his camera?

Fine pics, I sincerely lack the presence of salamandrids in Missouri though

No, it's an artificial pond. The patient guy would be my graduate advisor, god bless him.

Great habitat pics from the Ozarks. Hope to see more from around the world on this forum.

Perfect pictures Nate.

Especially the maculatum egg mass with the algae (superb).
