sooo like with my first post I am new to the axis world I have had my axi since she was around 4 months old. Vixi (my axis) she is about 1-2-year-old huge axolotl and she is rreeeaaalllyyy picky about what she eats. she only likes frozen-thawed ( i feed her 60-80 per lb --- 90-120 per bag) small raw shrimp and some small earthworms here and there I feed her about 1-2 times a week and I normally feed here about 1 to a half a shrimp depending on how hungry she is. but I also think she needs to go in on a diet and i really want to get your guy's opinion on it.

I wonder if the shrimp are fattening. We have been feeding our 11" Axolotl earthworms with the occasional pellets about 3 times a week for over a year now with no obvious weight gain.

Also, something might be stuck, especially if she's being picky. Is this a recent development? Have you tried fridging her?

losfrijoles, i have not tried fridging her but she has always been that way from the say I got her.

Calgarycoppers, i just have her in that tank. i have a copper but its a she and shes to mall to be in the tank with my Adult

i feel like when i put Pip ( my Copper babu) in with her i need to get a bigger tank T-T i have Vix in a 20 Gal long

At least you get stores that do $1 a gallon !!! we don't get that.
a 40g breeder would be awesome as well. Or upsize for the more you end up with lolol

oh god ya i love the $1 a gal!!! the probs is im in a tiny room xD

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much
