Overfeeding?

Are newts self-regulating when it comes to food? Or will they continue to eat as long as food is provided? Sid gets several globs of defrosted bloodworms once or twice a day, and he always seems to be voracious. When I first posted pictures I was tol he looked extremely skinny, so I've been fattening him up. He's now a roly-poly little eating machine. Can overfeeding harm him as long as I'm feeding him frozen bloodworms and chopped earthworms?

It depends on the newt. When it comes to eating each newt has its own preferences. For example, my male and female fuzhongs, they are both the same species, and the live happily together, have very different eating habits. Fatso, the male, would gorge himself till he exploded if I let him, while my female though she will eat two or three worms very aggressively she swims away when she's had enough and won't eat anymore for at least another day. Your sid seems like a gorger, let your newt become fat, but if it eventually hinders his mobility then restrict his feeding. I have a feeling that he won't get fat enough for it to be a problem. I've never heard of a newt dying from obesity,
