My two little lotls share a tub on the floor (50L). It sits next to my dresser. I slipped and dropped my deodorant cream (not an aerosol, not roll on.. It's like a paste?) straight in my babies tank :(

I was already in the process of water changes and had all sorts of buckets and tubs out so I filled up a bucket with water from my adult tank and scooped the babies in there. They seem fine and have put them back in their baby tank (having to separate the two as pablo (golden) is a pig and Pedro (wt) doesn't eat as much.

Now - I've emptied it, rinsed under hot water and scrubbed .. How do I know it'll be okay to use again?

I also thought I would show off my little cuties

Pic 1. Pedro the day I got him, 1.5 inches
Pic 2. Pedro today, 4 inches.
Pic 3. Pablo the day I got him, 2 inches
Pic 4. Pablo today, 4.5 inches - and fat.

Please help - they're both too big for a 3 gallon but I'm scared I didn't clean it properly - how do I go about it?

If you are still worried I would rise and dry it a couple more times. It should be okay to put them back in since you have taken care of it quickly. I had to clean a tank with soap one time because the kitty thought the sand drying in it was his fun new box. I rinsed and dried the tank (the sand I was drying was a gonner) it tons afterwards and it has had no problems.

It should be fine. 3 cleans should be enough - first to phsically clean any dirt, second to remove residue and bacteria, third for insurance. But of course you lose the cycle if you scrub the filter and sterilise it.

If you want to check how many rinses it take try smearing some of your deodorant on a drinking glass and celaning it the same way, and see how it works.
