I held off on any pictures until they began putting on weight and feeding well.

It looks like it. What are you using to cool the tank may I ask? Nice taliangensis!

Yep its shedding (although off the top of my head I think that is one of the two females).

The tank is in my basement close to the floor level where the summer high was (for two years in a row) 74 F (23.3 C). The temperature in the tank today was 64 F (17.8 C) and I expect to be in the 50s before the middle of December.

Just curious - what temperature range do you reccomend for overall health? I generally don't worry about temps so long as nothing goes over 70 degrees, but it's hard to regulate as I live in an apartment. Right now my tank goes between 59 and 68, but it's usually around 65. Also, what are you feeding them?

Hi Shaun,
I'm not the expert with these species (although I bred shanjing at work a number of years ago) but as I understand it temps in the low 70s are necessary to stimulate reproduction with this species. I do not tend to worry unless the temps are going to exceed 75 F for most caudates and there are a number of species that I don't worry about unless the temperature is going to exceed 80 F (such as Pseudobranchus). I've been feeding them chopped up nightcrawlers from tweezers.
