I would like to know if it is OK to use an oil diffuser in the same room as an axolotl? and if it is if there is any scents I should avoid? it is next to my window which I have slightly open all the time (like open but locked in place so it's only slightly open, yk?) but my room is quite small. I keep my axolotl in a cupboard with doors I usually have open but I can close it if need be.There is also a setting where it only diffuses intermittently and shuts of after and hour. my tank does not have a lid (I use a net to cover it) and it has a seachem filter.
This is the diffuser:
please let me know thanks 😊

I was wondering the same thing! Hope that someone responds with an answer🙂.

Hi,

Oil diffusers produce volatil organic compounds, which are not always safe, not only for axolotls, but also for humans.
Of course, their exact composition matters (read it cautiously), and also how it works (burning ?).

Unfortunately, they are only a small part of the pollution we usually breathe in our houses : cleaning products, new furniture, paints, glues,...

Nevertheless ... Happy new year !

I can't say for sure that it wouldn't be safe, but for whatever it's worth, I wouldn't personally risk it, especially in the same room. Without being certain of the results, you'd have to ask yourself whether the desire for an oil diffuser outweighs the potential risks. Sorry I can't be more helpful

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
