I don't know if I need to take my axolotl to the vet or not. About 4 months ago my axolotl was really sick but (s)he got better and is now pretty a ok and back to normal behaviour. During the time (s)he was sick there was odd stuff coming out of the axolotl's body cloudy poop with stringy white worm like part. It went away and all is fine.

Today after a while of perfectly normal behavior and with no other odd signs the cloudy worm like poop has returned. Again everything else about my axolotl is fine, active but not too much so, no curled tail and no floating. Any idea if this is normal or should I take my "Lil" to see a vet?

Also I haven't given my axolotl blood worms since february though (s)he does eat regular worms every other 2-3 days and 4-7 pallets every 1 to 2 days

I'm not an expert, but it looks like parasites to me. I'd recommend getting your axie in to see a vet.

I agree with EllieWind, much better to be safe than sorry in what appears to be an unusual situation. Once you figure it out though, please share the information on here to help others who might have something similar!

Did this ever get figured out? Someone else just posted about a very similar problem

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
