Odd egg

Not sure where to post this but I know this isn't any type of frog or toad egg. Not even sure if its an egg, let alone a type of amphibian egg because its nearly the size of a golf ball. Maybe someone can make heads or tails of this because I can't.
Saw this wierd thing while taking a hike in PA and it looks like some type of amphibian egg...at least I think. I've never seen anything like it though. I want to say its a type of salamander egg...but never heard of something this big. Definitely not a bird..obviously, so what could it be?

I think there are some mushrooms that could look like this...but I'm not sure.

Oh wait -the photo just came up - woah I don;t know - still could be mold.

Puffballs are ussualy white.

Look for more...

keep it and see if it hatches if its mold and u get sick and die or anything like that i blame santa...
