Nvv's landbound

Lately, my 2 adult nvv's have taken much more to land- I have some lock-rocks that stick out above the water's surface that I covered with java moss. They rarely climbed out and used it but now, they seem to be out quite often. They both have learned to climb as well; I frequently find them hopping on top of the filter and climbing up the tank wall. They're both healthy (at least I'd like to think so)- they eat heartily and swim around alot when they're in the water. I just never saw them basking so much outside the water, one even has taken to crawling under the moss to sleep. Is this common? Could it be the season change?

Hi Karen, I think it is pretty common for them to crawl under the moss. Lots of newts like to be covered.

My tarichas sit on top of their corkbark to sleep often. I think this is okay. Just be sure that it's not bad water quality that's driving them out or something like that.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
