Hi there all! I picked up this sick little guy from someone who took AWFUL “care” of the poor thing about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been trying to nurse him back to health and he definitely is making progress!

I’m feeding as many pellets and earthworms that he’ll eat every other day. Water is kept as cold as possible, 40% water changes every other day, spot cleaning at least once a day, tank is planted and has a bubbler, I’ve also got tea leaves steeping in there as well.

One thing that concerns me is his gills. They were in very bad shape and they have all but vanished on one side over the past week or so. I’m not sure if this is part of the healing process as the nasty fungus looking film is gone. It just worries me a bit that they’re gone so close to his head, not sure if that’s something to be concerned with. What do you guys think?

Have you tested the tank for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? GH/KH?

Im guessing this tank is uncycled

Tea leaves or Indian Almond Leaves?
