Now what??

I finally got my axies cleared and settled with the warm water temps and heat stress (or so I thought). Now 2 out of the 4 have several tiny white specks on their heads and sides. For lack of any better word, they resemble spores. Some of them are sort of suspended out above the skin. I looked at them through a magnifying lense to be sure they aren't moving. Is this still a sort of fungus? Should I start salt baths again?

Forgot to add they aren't showing any other kind of obvious stress like curled tails or forward gills. They otherwise look normal and healthy. They all eat very well.

How warm is the water? Sometimes you can add sea salt (small amounts) directly to the tank to help with fungal or bacterial infections. That is, if you're not already using some recipe for artificial fresh water already. Otherwise, I'd resort to salt baths at cool temps.

Meghan - Could you post a picture of the specks?

Sounds more like a parasite than fungus. Can you pick one of them off and look at it under a microscope?

Are they white axies? I have white axies who have tiny white bumps on their skin and is a normal part of the skin. Pics would be good.
