Hi there,

Just thought I'd post a couple of my recent photos of a Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens eft. I enjoy seeing everyone else's photographs on here, so every now and then I try to stick a couple up myself!

Hi Jennifer,

This is the same eft that I posted some photos of for the calendar competition, and in the past i've shown the odd photo of it since it was a larva. I bred my Noto's in January 2005. This chap morphed out in the middle of May (2005), so he's now around 2 years old. He's very "tame" - when he sees me he looks up, "begging" for his food

His spots still haven't really turned red, but are more of an orange colour.

Liam.

Very neat, I still have yet to find a wild one here. Maybe this year!

Ah, I do remember now the photos you posted of the egg/larva. How could I forget... we have it posted on CC.

Very cool to see it again this far down the road! The reason I guessed it was CB was because of the yellow color of the spots. It seems to be typical of some species that they sometimes do not develop the orange color in captivity like they do in the wild. I've seen this with CB Cynops orientalis with yellow bellies, for example. It seems to depend on diet, but particularly during a certain period in the animal's development.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
