Larva from last years breeding. The parents of this animal were given to me as eggs (cb) by another fellow enthusiast which makes this generation at least F2 cb.

Looking good! How long did it take the animals to reach reproductive age?

Wow, I hope that it will grow up to be a nice healthy adult.

I'm in awe of anyone who can achieve 2nd generation offspring from Notophthalmus!

I know from my own trials and errors how challenging this is. Really impressive, Ralf!

Thanks all for your comments.

Ester, it took about two years for them to become sexually mature and the harvest of viable eggs from the first spawning was rather small.

Jen, sometimes also luck is involved and the animals did most of the work.

I hope they will continue to breed for me.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
