I recently got another C.o to add to my collection it was in a tank full of paddle tails...all the others were dead...So i brought him home...The tips of his fingers are all white and the same is with his toes...one whole hand is white...He refused bloodworms, blackworms, and tubifex worms...he doesnt do much put sit outta the water...Please any ideas for feeding him would be appreciated...

I am sure that you rescued him from a horrible death at the hands of the paddletails, but if I were you I would be very sure to keep him separate from your current newts for a few weeks, in case he is sick. It would be a shame if he infected any of your healthy ones. If you havent already, I would recommend putting him in a small temporary tank until you are sure he is healthy and a couple weeks have passed.
In terms of food, I might recommend also trying very small chopped earthworm bits, or maybe those extremely small crickets that some pet stores sell.
The white spots are often a very bad sign and could mean infection, and his lack of eating might confirm that. Those can be very contagious among newts.
I hope all goes well.

He is in a small tupperware set-up of just mud...I put peroxide and triple antibiotic on his infection...I really want him to pull through...He is amazingly active...and always tries to walk on his missing hand...

The white part of the limbs is beginning to fall off...The limbs now look black and are going to begin to grow back soon...I think he jsut might pull through

Sorry to tell but I lost a newt, with the same signs last week.
Luck Hayden

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
