oh and i was wondering. when he swims or just floats some times he flips on his back. but he fixes himself

bookie - if your axolotl is having problems getting to the bottom of the tank it probably has a gas bubble.

Put it in a food safe container of shallow water (just enough to cover the axolotl) to help it gain its footing. I would put it in the fridge.

Axolotls shouldn't ever flip over on their back, that's not a normal thing.

Is it still eating?

that purple thing I think is it's liver. yes, I agree with Cynthia, it probably is a gas Bubble.

And I must add, your tanke is very sparkly! I like it a lot. nice job

yes he's eating. sometimes when he's in his container from the fridge i let him sit out to get to room temp. some times i see him leaning sideways. but sometimes i see him swimming fast or w/e and flip on his back.

bookie - it is hang out if they have no problem going back to the bottom of the tank.

It is air in the gut if they struggle to get to the bottom of the tank and can not stay at the bottom of the tank.

If they tilt to one side and float it could be a sign of a more serious problem like an infection.

When he "flips on his back" does he float upside down? Or is he just panicking and flipping over trying to escape the container?

My axie used to pass all day floating, and I though it was just hang out, but I start to notice that he looked like he couldn´t stay still on the surface he swing from side to side and have some trouble getting down, than I start to see him scratching his gills and having some kind of strokes , convulsions, so I decided to treat him with flagyl, I did this yesterday, and today he is at the bottom of the tank , he comes to the surface for food and go down easy. He look a lot healthy, but let´s see what time will bring.

before he used to float on his side. he does that sometimes but not alot. no he never stays on his back. he panics and makes his self flip over. he really dosent panic anymore. i guess he got used to it.
