Are these Northern Red-back salamander eggs? I found them with a female (I think it was a female) nearby. They didn't really fit the discription that I read about. I was hoping to keep the female but I didn't because I was afraid I was going to mess something up.

Here is the environment that I find my red-backs in.

look kinda small and too transparent.. more like slug eggs to me

Alright I guess I'll try to find the salamander.

I couldn't find it and I lost the eggs while I was looking.

Good because I think something happened to them.

Those are definitely slug eggs. I've found them before and thought the same, that perhaps they were redback eggs. I brought them home and hatched them out came baby slugs. Another thing to note is that female redbacks will guard there eggs aggressively, and are often found curled around them. http://www.wingwatchers.com/images2/jodsally1.jpg

They are definately slug eggs. My slug eggs just hatched. I'm feeding them to my Southern Redbacks.

I'm glad you all posted this! Because I found those eggs near where my redbacks lived and I thought they were redback eggs as well. Now I know!

Maybe I find the redbacks hanging out in that area because they like to eat them!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
