Schools almost finished and i will finally have some time to get out and enjoy the outdoors instead of being cooped up inside doing homework.

Anyways, i was wondering if anyone has any knowlege of areas in northern California (preferrably in the Sacramento/San Francisco area) where i can observe some wild newts and salamanders. I'm beginning to think they don't exist up here as i have been out and about a few times and found nothing. I really just want to get out there and see them in their natural home.

Any ideas?? Thanks!
 
Bummer, either there are not many people from California here, or there just are not many places to go to see wild newts. Guess i'll just have to keep looking.
 
We don't allow people to publicly discuss specific locations where salamanders are found. There is too much potential for the information to be abused. If anyone has any suggestions for you, they should contact you by PM.
 
Any of the ravines in the national forests or state parks, west of the crest, should still be good.

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
