Normal behavior for a newt?

I'm wondering if my newt is sick. He doesn't seem to move around much when my hand enters the tank. What is normal behavior for a newt? Running around and skittish or calm?

Caudates have very low metabolism. They usually don't do much moving at all. Mine only get riled when there's food in the area (or if they think my fingers are food).

Caterpillar - it depends on the species and the individual personality. Some are very calm don't react to a hand in the water at all. If it's eating and otherwise normal, I wouldn't worry.

thanks everyone for the comments!

She eats fine!!

I second what's been said before; I even have some pleuro's that swim into my hand when I put it into their water

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
