Good morning guys, did you sleep well?

I didn't. I got me a big tank for my 3 girls yesterday and included was an Eheim filter, modell unknown, big thing though, as it came in the box of a different brand alltogether (2nd hand). I installed it the way the dude told me to but unlike what some say, "give it 30 minutes and it'll run quietly", I had to unplug it this morning to finally get some sleep. Putting it ontop of a pillow merely takes the edge off and I'm going craaaaaaazy

Also, I feel the tubes vibrating but there is no water movement whatsoever. Is it even working at all? I heard that axolotls hate water movement and one of my pinkies just snuggled up to the tube, can't be a good sign now, can it?

Please help me you guys, I'm a total newbie to wet pets...

Sounds like a misalignment in the assembly to me. If it is noisy and not moving water, it is not working properly.

If you post a picture of it, we can help you out better.

Thanks so much :) I just did some manual reading (which I'm bad at so I usually don't even try) and now it's alot better. Also used the parts of the new filter instead as I accidentally ordered the exact same filter before buying it with the tank, so I guess new/original parts do help. Sorry for the rash panic....

Why wouldn't you use the brand new one? Glad to hear you resolved your issue though, sounds like water hadn't completely filled the filter, which would cause the vibration, noise, and lack of water movement.

Aye, sounded like the pump had lost or never made prime. Good to hear it worked out for you.

Actually, the only parts of the old one I used are the filling bucked because it was already filled with stuff, and a few screws... But now the current seems a bit strong for my 3 axolotls :(

Can you adjust the direction of the flow so that is is directed at the side of the tank? That would significantly decrease the flow.

I did. You mean, direct the flow at the wall, right? I think it really did the trick.
