Question: Noisy Filter Outlet?

I've recently bought a Hydor Prime 10 External Filter which I have to say on first looks is a brilliant little filter for the price however the outlet attachment has this little inlet which appears to mix air in with the water? but it's very noisy... I have this set up in a bedroom cycling but at this rate I'll have to sort something else out

I can reduce the noise entirely if I submerge the outlet below the maximum water level indicator, any ideas? I have considered rigging an Eheim spray bar onto it instead
