I'm currently keeping 3 Pleurodeles waltl and I'm thinking about getting another species of newt in the fall.

I'd love to hear your recommendations for a relatively easy species to keep, ideally aquatic and not too temperature sensitive.

I like axolotols but I've read that they don't deal well with the heat. I have a basement where I keep the Pleurodeles for maybe a week during the worst of the summer heat, but wouldn't want to have to keep my pets there for longer periods of time.

Thanks in advance.

I´d recommend Cynops pyrrhogaster or C.ensicauda. Both are tolerant to somewhat higher temps, fully aquatic, commonly available from breeders and extremely easy to care for. They are beautiful and fascinating to boot!
Hypselotriton cyanurus would also be a good option, but might be more difficult to find.

Agreed, firebellies are easy and fun. For a terrestrial species, if interested, you could get some tiger salamanders.
