Hi Coen,
don't be too sad. Try to contact breeders in Holland (I think there are many), you'll get much better animals from them, as any pet shop offers. It's hard for me to understand how somebody can buy an animal online. I'd never buy a newt without seeing him!

I have questions as well about thw whole process, but that's pretty much the only way to get that kind of newt around here. (New York) Every shop has CFB's only it seems. I got my 4T. Grans from shops, and haven't seen one in almost a year. Shame, as I wanted to get a 4th one.
My ex girlfriend got me hooked on newts about a year ago now, and back then I used to see a lot of Easterns too which I like. Don't see those anymore either. Actually, the only non CFB newt I've seen in the shops lately have been Paddle tails, but I'm not interested in keeping those.
Oh well, online will have to do. I'll try it out and see how it goes.

Katia Del Rio-Tsonis:Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.+1
