Here is my fire belly newts new set-up. There is only one newt, froogle. He seems to really enjoy his new set-up. I had a slope of gravel with a rock coming out in the surface for land. But what i did was got a big plastic bottle and left the bottom and sides on to create land for him at the top as you will see, and it has maximized the amount of water in the 2.5 gallon tank. I do not have a filter in it, as I would feel it would make the tank even smaller, but do change some portions of the water a few times a week. The water is always nice and clean, mainly because i take him out to a different container to feed him his live worms. But now, the bottle i used has a small cup like form on the top that I will now try to fill with a little of water and put some worms in there. I feed him blackworms. He seems to venture out more all over the bottom of the tanks and then goes back around his fake plant to hide in it. He does this quite a few times a day now. He didnt venture out much before. I barely set-up the tank yesterday so i dont know how the feeding will go, since i dont want any live worms staying at the bottom of the gravel eventually drowning and making the water messy. I also have a little plastic ramp going up to the land which is held by a rock at the top. I dont know if the ramp is necessary but i think he should have a little help to guide him up to the land. I havent seen him up there except for the first time when i placed him up there, which he staid there for a while. There is a glass lid at the top as u can see but have made sure there is no way he can get out of the gaps i left at the top for air circulation. What do you guys think ?
