I know you should not mix amphibian species but I have not seen anywhere about mixing newts with compatible invert species. Red cherry shrimp do well anywhere between 57 to 84 and many newts ideal range is within this ... As long as the invert is peaceful would it pose a problem?

I know many keep snails with their phibs.

I ask for a couple reasons, if my ADF die I will be converting their tank which also houses these shrimp and if they are OK for everyone's tanks the other phibs can feed on the young.

Well, you can´t have looked very thoroughly because there are a number of threads discussing the use of shrimp in caudate tanks. Neocaridina heteropoda in particular does well and represents no threat to the newts and might in fact be a tasty, calcium rich snack on occassion.

Sorry I only looked through the beginner pages ... its very early and I forgot about the search bar. Its very good to know that they can be safely housed together. Looks like I will have shrimp everywhere once they begin to breed.
