My NewtsT.Tailiangensis have escaped last night, I think he has walked around from 3-4 hours. I find him and he was full of dust and get very thin. Dust can be cleared, but he is still very thin. I think he is dehydrated. How to solved, put him into the water for a while? spray some water to him? or just leave him alone, he is not dehydrate and can recover himself, due to he escape for a short period. Please give me some advise. Thanks a lot.

Dehydration is to be expected. You can put the animal on a temporary set-up with moist paper towels as substrate. This should allow the animal to rehydrate progressively.
Make sure to secure the lid from now on, it should be 100% scape proof. You are lucky that that the animal survived, most of the time that´s not the case.

I agree. Put the animal on moist paper towels (in a secure tub). Try to get it to eat earthworms, which have a high water content.

You are very lucky to have found him!!!! Well done on finding him!!!
Cheers!

Hello, Thankyou all of you, newt is getting better after has two treatments. I put him into the shallow pool, and moist towel then. Each for about half an hour, he has recharged water, his body become thicker as normal, and his weight is also increase. It was so fast that he can recover and become active again, his body move very fast when hold in hands. Thank you for your assist.

This time newt escape is my fault, I did not lock up well the cover of the case. I was under estimate that they can escape, Every night, before I sleep, they are all hide under moss, when I wake up, they are still hide. So I always think that they are very lazy, but it is wrong and they are happy to play when I sleep:lame: . I am very very lucky this time can find him and survied. Now, the lid is in very high security level, they must not come out again.

I´m glad the animal recovered. You should avoid manipulating it, physical contact is not good for them, even the natural oils in our hands can be a problem and any contact generally produces stress.
It´s easy to underestimate their habilities to scape, but hey, lesson learned. They are pretty active at night, it´s how most species work. Some species, in certain kinds of set-up you may never see during the day!

Thankyou Azhael, newt is fine now, I have take better care of him and the lid. And don't worry about me to touch them, Besides, health check and cleaning the case, I will avoid to contact them.:proud:
