Another small Kaiseri problem.Well I just setup my kaiseri aquatic stage. It's 20 gallon with a floating cork,a litle bit of hornwort and one small clump on java moss.3 of my kaiseri go and eat in the water but one of them won't.I did have that specific one on land for about 2-3 months along with another one.And then I got another 2.Any way how can you make it to go on water? The other 3 go so there's nothing wrong with my water plus I tested it and no amonia.Maybe he just got to use to land and now he stays on the cork.

Hi there,

I can't give any good advice as I don't keep this species, but do Kaiseri have a terrestrial stage? Also how old are they? Some species of Caudate will not enter the water for months after morphing, will some taking longer than others. However I don't know if it applies to this species. Are they eating whilst on land?

Hey this ones that I have are adults. But in the wild there aquatic habitat drys up and they are forced to go into land. Then when it gets cooler and rain starts to come there habitat fills up with water and they go on water agian. Some people belive this helps them breed with better results since thats what they go through in the wild. But I know people who just keep them aquatic year round and get the same results of breeding. And yes they are eating on land since I was feeding them before on land but the other 3 went into water and this one is still on the small cork.I'am not feeding the one on land right now hopeing would enter the water to search for food. if it still doesn't go on water in a week I have no choice but to feed it on land for now.

Could be that this is a female, the general consensus seems to be that females enter water later than males. I had this exact scenario play out for me about a month ago when I put my Kaiseri in their breeding tank, 2-3 would not enter water at all. I gave them about 2 weeks and then I removed the terrestrial stacks of cork bark and they HAPPILY entered water to seek a new refuge. Now they're all completely aquatic. You can either keep raising the water level or make it more appealing to them to enter water by removing terrestrial hides. Like you stated previously they kind of go with the flow.

Yes,that's what I did.I just took the cork bark off and it was staying on the floating plants for a day and then it went down to the botom with it's friends lol.But after it ate red wigglers from the bottom it now knows there is food down there so it loves the water now.But I don't know if it was a female,I think this one was a male. But the other females went in the water.
