Newt wont eat

Im very worried about my newt. He is a firebelly and is close to five years old. He came into my care 4 months ago. When I got him, he had been fed newt pellets for all of his life, and his previous owner had never witnessed him actually eating. I gave him a pellet every night but every morning it was still there. I decided to try him on bloodworms and he absolutely loved them. He eats right off of my finger or will follow my finger to the food. For the last two nights however he refuses to eat. He still seems very alert but he's getting noticably thinner in the belly. I dont know what to do, I thought someone may be able to help or suggest possible reasons for his refusal to eat.
Thanks a lot.

If you are new to keeping newts you should read this page http://www.caudata.org/cc/faq/faq.shtml to learn the basic care of your newt. Water quality and temps among other things can cause rapid decline in health. Not saying thats the problem but it could be and this will help you weed out potential problems. Just my opinion, but I dont think two nights is very long to think there is a feeding problem. I feed my Notos twice a week and there bellies swell up enormously when fed but tend to go back to being thin the next day or two.
