I too could sit and watch my marms, for hours. Unfortunately they are in my 14 year old sons room, and its not cool for mum to be lurking while he is on Fb or msn.
My ex wife used to complain that almost all of my spare time was spent in my newt room watching my newts n sals.
She hated it even more in springtime when newts return to my garden ponds because then a lot of my night time is spent sat in my garden armed with a torch newt watching lol.
To be honest, when I get up of a morning and go into the living-room with my cup of tea, check my email inbox through bleary eyes, my day is always blessed with seeing my P waltl (having sensed movement) wave at me like a mad-man, and telepathically bombard me with the words "worm!" and "now!".
Starting the day off with a friendly wave from a newt is great........my evenings are often spent in a rocking chair, sat between a tank with a couple of T carnifex (which are growing well) and a tank with a pair of C orientalis (who seem to think that every night is their honeymoon night!).
PS. If you watch your newt for more than ten minutes at a time, you don't get advertisement breaks all the time, whereas TV......
