I think their have been a few threads here...but does anyone know if this is merely the sound of bubbles or if they actually have a voice?

I put a little waltl in a cup to draw a sketch of it. he/she clearly was not pleased and was doing the treadmill/let me out act when suddenly he to a gulp of air and let out a "Brrrp!"

I've also heard similar squeaks from Triturus karelinii during food fights.

I hear my M.a.apuanus make a squeaking noise when they take a breath of air, but they don't have an actual "voice" like frogs.

As far as i kow they are entirely made by bubbles making the squeaking sound as they come out.
No salamander or newt has specialized aparatus for making sound, which is understandable given that they have a limited hearing capacity.

I have actually heard my apuanus squeak out of the water, almost as if they are made to jump!!
