I have one particular newt that used to be very confortable in the water but about 2 weeks ago he started acting funny. I have 3 chinese fire bellys and the one that im worried about is one of the 2 bigger ones i have. the 3rd one is smaller and is a bit frightened when i offer him food with tweezers but i just let him be. This other newt that i was talking about has been resting on land most of the time usually parially submerged. but every once in a while ill see him on one of the islands in the tank fully emerged. i walked by about 15 minutes ago and he was on the land area looking dry, 10 minutes later i realized his skin was stuck to the land and i saw his arms trying to lift up in an effort to move but he couldnt. i used a turkey baster to put water under him to help him move. is this something to be worried about? he also doesnt like the water as much. he has been clinging on to whatever he can in his path to stay put. and he rapidly swims trying to leap out along the glass until doing so. i noticed he kind of floats and has trouble staying down so when hes underwater hes usually under a rock or under an ornament to keep him anchored. this is making it hard to feed him now since he has trouble staying down.

Hi,
When you said that he was floating and has trouble sinking, the first thing that comes to mind is bloat. Remove the newt just in case it does have bloat so that it doesn't spread.
I am a little clueless on the sticking to land part. Best of luck, Drake

after i seperate them will it go away or will i have to treat it? any instructions?

Hello again,
The bloat won't go away ( I forgot to ask you does the newt look like its ballooning up?)
The risk that the others will get bloat won't be as high though. Unfortunately, none of my newts have ever gotten bloat, so I don't know how to treat it. There is a good article on bloat at Caudata Culture Home Page. Just go to the article section, and click on all articles.
Good luck, Drake Zhao:happy:

He doesnt look bloated at all suprisingly. My other newt is muh fatter and doesnt have a problem getting to the bottom. I have no clue why it keeps floating. It looks skinnier but i cant say hes not eating because he might doso during the night

okay sorry about that i forgot to check up on this post, didnt mean to go awol lol. ill post pictures in a few minutes
