I am moving and I need help picking a shipping method to deliver my newt. I wasn't sure if i should try to bring it on the plane or not. If I ship it, how would i pack it? It's a Paddletae newt that's about 9" long. any advice would be appreciated.

Shipping is tricky when moving. You need to have someone there to pick up package. Many things can happen during a move. If you can work out the details with both post offices (don't go into detail of what you are shipping...some are not real keen of live animals), it will take the stress out of it. The best thing is to talk to your post office and get the information and call your new location's post office and make arrangements. Every location's post office is different and depending on where you live (even with in the same city) your packages may be delayed. My mail is the last to be delivered at my home. I always have my packages held at the post office for pick up. This ensures I get it the day it comes in and it does not sit in a hot truck all day.
good luck.

Freezing is a possible problem this time of year. You might want to include a room-temperature cold pack next to the container holding the newt. USPS Express Mail is usually the best bet.
