Hello,

I have a recently (week or two ago) adopted fire-belly newt that's shedding. I would normally not show signs of concern but for this excerpt from caudata : if the skin comes off in small, flakey pieces, or if the skin gets stuck around the animal's abdomen or legs during shedding, these can be signs of illness.

I've found this newt with "rings" of skin caught around it's belly and legs. Is this a problem?

Thanks.

Not at all. If you are talking about Cynops Orientalis, they shed a lot! Mine shed every 1-2 weeks. No biggy.
