T'was my good fortune yesterday to run into these nifty axoltl figurines at a shop. I've already gone and lost a leg, however

Who knows though, maybe it got chewed off by another hungry axoltl figurine

I wouldn't worry Tim. It'll grow back.

Those are pretty cool though. Nice find!

Thanks. Here's another find that I don't think I've posted a pic of yet. I picked this up during a recent trip to Vietnam:

Also picked up these nice cases in Vietnam:

Wow, this is all pretty nice stuff! I especially like those first cases you posted Tim. Too bad the real thing doesn't have such a lovely tail.

Yes, I was blown away when I discovered that case in a small shop in Hanoi. The "newts" on the other cases are a bit too lizard-like, but they're close enough. By the way, the axoltl's leg did regenerate, just like you said it would!

Some of the figurines in this series are really quite realistic. Here's one that's sure to please fellow Hynobius-lover Henk...

That other figure is very nice too. How did you really get his leg back on??? Glue, right?

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
