Okay, I already put a similar thread into the help area yesterday, but I thought it might get more traffic here, and I have a pretty good feeling that there are some people on this site that may be able to figure this one out.
To get the background of this problem see "Taricha Granulosa Problem" in the Help area.

Basically, I have a T. Gran. in quarantine who has been very difficult to feed. He is large; probably 6", but very skinny. In the last 3 weeks, he has only eaten 4 items that I know of: 2 worm bits and 2 waxworms, all on different days. Most of the time he ignores food, even live worms, etc., or even walks away when he sees it.
The main reason, besides lack of appetite, that I think he has a disease, is that he comes up for air often (once per minute or less, especially when moving around). He also makes a popping noise every now and then like he is getting air, even when his head is above water. Does anyone recognize these symtoms, or any ideas on why he refuses to eat??

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
