Newt personality

i know some of us believe it, but do you guys think that individual newts have personalitys like, say, a dog for example. it is just weird that some newts like to do different things at stay in similar places all the time. one of my newt likes sitting on a piece of driftwood. the others have their own place in the water.

I definitely agree. Though some the behaviour which may seem to be attributed to a personality, may actually have to do with characteristics about the animals body. For example all humans have slightly different appetites, body temperatures, and metabolisms, some of us have acne, some have exema, some are tall, others short: all of these are physical characteristics which can make our behaviour.

my two c.orientalis are way different. fang ALWAYS comes up to the glass when you go to look at them. i dont think its a feeding thing as i only feed them about one out of 10-20 times that someone goes up to the tank. she gets as close to your face as she possibly can and tilts her head to the side and will follow your face around the tank if you move. shui, on the other hand, tends to scurry away when someone comes up to the tank or turns the light on.

Oh yes definetly. I have three C.O. and all three of them have distinctive personalities. Zeus is the leader, she's bold, brave and not afraid of anything. Dots is really shy and a wallflower. He likes to hide a lot and always stays away from me. Godzilla on the other hand is really curious. She barely stays in hiding, and is always out in open areas, exploring all of the areas on land and under water. So yes, every animal has a different personality, and its fun to work with so many of them. =)

Why would a newt not have a personality? A certain species wouldn't have survived very long if all the members would have acted they same, would they?
Of course, a "personality" should become all the more obvious the more neurons per body mass unit you have.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
