A small number of lighter colored animals with black spots, orange hip and shoulder spots, and an orange dorsal ridge turn up in shipments of H.orientalis. Whether these are H.fudingensis, H.orientalis, or something else remains to be determined. This animal appears to be one of these oddballs. Some of us are keeping and breeding these separately from more typical H.orientalis. The last import I looked at had one of these animals, which unfortunately died of an infection. My stock of four came from a single shipment. In both cases, I think the total shipment was about 100 WC newts. Grand total 2.5% unknown, 97.5% typical H.orientalis.
