Hey folks

TL:DR - one of my disabled double act died and I worry about the remaining wee eft being on his todd

I have been raising alpine newts (hatched at the end of may) and had to separate two from the rest as they were not doing so well. One was way behind in development and has very limited use of their left forelimb and the other was very disabled. His hind limbs grew in fused together and there was a kink at the base of his tail meaning it pointed up and was, therefore, a bit wayward, as rudders go. He also had limited mobility in one of his forelimbs.

Sadly, despite my best efforts, the more disabled newt died yesterday. However the other one is doing well. He is morphing now, despite the never having gained mobility (although he has no pigment and I’m beginning to think he won’t develop any)

I’m not planning on reintroducing him to the others because he just wonders about at his own pace and I don’t want to risk him not coping.

My question is: should I look for a pal for him? Another partially disabled eft perhaps? Would he be ok on his own and, if I decided to get him a friend, would introductions etc be ok?

Thanks in advance
H

Ps: if you happen to know anyone who has a partially disabled alpine eft, let me know. (Does it get more specific than that?!)

You can mix sizes with morphed alpines.
Just want to be careful as I think he is possibly a bit more vulnerable than others, because of the arm. I think would like to get one or two wee ones for him
