Cool story. It's two days till payday and I'm out of milk and coffee. I call my mom 2 towns away to see if I can borrow some money. On the way down I notice a new aquarium store, the sign was hardly noticable from the road unless you're very familiar with the area. So I ask my husband if we could stop on the way back. As I go in just for a peek...keep in mind I'm broke, he says, "it's only saltwater". I have no saltwater tanks but decide to keep going anyway. Inside I look around, then ask the young man at the counter if he deals w/ any freshwater fish or exotics, and he says no but he could, and he decides to show me this "thing" he has in a 20 gallon tank in about 3 to 4 inches of water. He tells me his dealer sent 2 but one died. Well, this "hing looks to me like a decent sizedtiger salamander larvae, and not unhealthy as you may expect in a petstore where the owner calls him a thing. He appeared a bit thin but not bad, swam well and got excited as i got down close to his tank, as if expecting food. He has no scars or marks to indicate being nibbled at and his gills look overall healthy. Well, having no money i still dared to ask how much he'd let it go for, and to my surprise he said I could have it!!!! I have a 50 gal tank at home that I had alreday begun cycling in hopes of getting an axie or two, so I guess the axies will have to wait till i can get another tank set up for them. But I am very happy with my newly aquired "Puppylove"

Hi guys. Just wanted to say Puppylove is doing well, filling out and seems to be happy in his new home. I can see why they're labeled waterdogs, because he/she (not sure yet) gets all exited when I get close to the tank, and appears to hop around and wag his tail, just like a little puppy! Ihave done alot of research and alot of my info has come from the caresheets this site provies as well as some very helpful advise in the forums. Thanks guys, but he is my first attempt at owning a tiger salamander, so although he seems very happy and healthy, I would greatly appreciate any advise or suggestions, to keep him happy and healthy. I'd rather hear it now than go seeking last minute advise if something bad happened. Thanks ahead of time, to all of you.

Congratulations on a the new addition to your family, what a lucky find!
