I was fascinated by pete's Dicamptodon movie and Mark's "Infrared newts" so i finally created my own compilation movie about my (mostly) newts. Enjoy!

Just lovely, Janusz, thanx for posting this!
Do you breed the anostraceans yourself? I want to give them a try in the near future because they are such a natural, nutritious food, plus the hunt must be interesting to watch xD

How´s the ensicauda/orientalis mix working? You appear to keep only juveniles of ensicauda in with them, is it on purpose? do you separate them when they get bigger?

Nice job! You have such a diversity of life in there, and I liked the music and the choice of clips a lot.

Thanks for comment!
I catch anostraceans in nearby swamp in spring - they're not protected here, i think, yet. They seem to make excellent food, although newts need some work to catch them.

They are separated for over a year now, when ensicauda passed the size of my biggest orientalis female, i moved them to different tank, with calm hongkongensis female as some of you may remember.
The warty female is dead for a while now and of course i will never do such mix again... but the funny thing to say is that when my ensicauda male "felt love" for the first time, he was fanning ONLY the hongkongensis female, not the girl of his own species!

He gets them from the wild. Not cultured

That was when his breeding adults (present) were juvies. So i assume that part of the vid is one year or more old. Right Janusz?

Ah, right. Sorry Janusz, didn´t realise it was an old situation.
I can see how a mix of such non-agressive species when done with CB animals and separating them before they reach maturity, can work in the right circumstances.

Males will tail fan anything...xD I´ve seen my L.v.vulgaris fanning to snails, my pyrrhogaster have fanned at my finger and i´m pretty sure one of them once was fanning at nothing at all xD They are funny like that...

You are lucky to have an available source of anostraceans...i can only get to my sources by car, which i don´t have xD

Jorge, you're right - the last two clips of the movie are from 2008 - the small ensicaudas are the same animals that eat earthworms and anostraceans earlier.

About fanning, azhael - i'll be happy to see my orientalis male fanning more often, most preferably... during the day! His children show up nearly all the year but i can find him dancing only late at night, and very rarely... taking a pic of him fanning would be one of my greatest photographic achievements! To have fanning-experience like you i would need some rabbit-breeding species, like marmoratus or pyrrhogaster.

Congratulations, Yahilles! Lovely video with lovely music;). May I ask what is that pleasant melody? I would like to get it. Thanks in advance.

The song is "Lord of the dance" by Ronan Hardiman.

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
