Question: New to Axolotls?

Hi,
I apologize if a simular post has already been posted but I am wanting to know specific details to keeping axolotls and I thought i could get good advice from experienced people here :happy:

I've already done some homework on axolotls as I have had a keen interest for a long time. Anyway I am wanting to keep two axolotls and was wondering what the best size tank would be to keep them in? Also my room is south facing so its fairly warm pretty much all of the time even in the winter, so what would you recommend for heating in the tank?

I would recommend a 3 foot tank for 2 axolotls so give them space to move. I have an axie in a two foot tank and feel sad for him as he swims across the tank, bumps his nose, turns around, swims and bumps his nose again. I feel a little sad for him.
Axie tanks don't need heating as they prefer cool water under 20 degrees Celsius. I'm not sure how warm your room gets. In Australia it gets really warm here in Summer so I rely on an air conditioner. You can use a fan across the water surface to bring the temp down a bit or invest in a chiller. That will be my plan next Summer so that I don't worry too much.

At the minimum, a 20 long. Make sure they are similar in size as well, otherwise it could end badly for one and fulfilling for the other But like Kerry said, the bigger (floor space wise) the better! I'm currently on an endeavor to acquire larger tanks for my little guy

No heating elements necessary! I keep my tank between 66 and 68 F (18 and 20 C), and my axxie loves it. They thrive in cold water!

The bigger the tank, the better! I have one axie in a 3 ft tank and I'd love to give him more space. They spend a lot of time walking along the bottom of the tank, so try get one with plenty of floor space.

You don't need a heater in the tank here in the UK. On our odd very hot day I'm planning on having a fan over the tank to keep the water cooler. - And no gravel lol.
