New tank

I just set up my 55 gallon tank today and I'm using sand but the water is murky and dirty looking what do i need to do to get my water clear. I have added a filter but that doesnt seem to be helping.

Did you rinse the sand thoroughly?
Some murkiness is expected - if it is very murky it might be worth turning off the filter for an hour or two to let it settle - some sands can destroy certain filter impellers.

Don't forget to turn the filter back on again

It will eventually settle overnight
12-24hrs

Thanks I rinsed it as good as i could hopefully it clears up soon. I have never used sand before so I thought didnt do something right
