New tank!!!

Hi guys

So I came home yesterday only to find that my axi tank was slowly leaking... and I was like 'OH GOD!!!'

So I called the pet shop and they said they would replace it for me which was awesome. When I got there though I figured I would ask if I could just pay the extra and upgrade my guy to a bigger tank. Which is just what I did.

So I set up his new tank and transferred him straight in, I used almost all the water from the old tank (except the icky last bits) as well as all the ornaments, plants and the filter. He immediately explored his new home, which has the same basic set up as his old one but its bigger!!!

So I tested the the parameters today and was very pleased to find that I got a nitrate reading and VERY low ammonia reading... so this new tank looks just about cycled. I'm pretty stoked with the new tank. It could use a few more plants but otherwise its looking good. Also it looks like it will be a great home for him for the few years... until I decide to upgrade again!

I thought for a moment about getting him a friend too but decided against it, for now he is going to be the only axi for me. Maybe later...

Bigger tanks, with more water volume, are the best buffer against poor water quality.

Your so much calmer than me if I had bought a new tank and it had leaked I would be non too pleased and would have asked for a discount on a bigger tank for all the hassle of having to transfer everything over :happy: See said your axie obsession would begin ... i started with a small tank and upgraded 3 times in 6 months ending in a 4ft tank however now wishing I had gone down the 5ft route, it just never seems big enough :grin:

Hahah how could I forget the all important pictures?

As I said it could use some more plants to make it nice and green but I think the basic set up is sound. Perhaps a bigger hide for him?

Pleased for you, tank looks great as does your axie, great job

Hides look fine, maybe change them when he/she is bigger, will be a while yet though
