My tank has finally finished cycling and I picked up my axolotls today!

The tank is 130l and I have decorated it with black sand substrate, a homemade multi-story slate hide (which I have carpeted with java moss - hopefully it'll grow!), and java ferns.

Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions on anything else I need to do to make sure it's a stimulating environment for Rae (wild type) and Vi (leucistic)???

Thanks all,

Looks great, congrats on your axies! The slate looks like a house of cards but I assume you attached your rocks very carefully.

:happy:Hah! Yes- the slate has got a ton of aquarium silicon holding it all together! I spent hours sanding all of the rough edges off too

Make sure to check the slate hide every now and then still. Silicone doesn't stick to rock as well as to glass for example.

Looks great...but from experience...because slate is made from layer upon layer of thin sheets...it is only the one in contact with the glue that sticks...and this single layer can lift off very easily leaving the whole thing to fall

Thanks for your feedback guys. If I give it a thorough check each week when I do a water change do you think that'll be ok? Or do you think I should check it more frequently, or take it out altogether? The axies are still small, so I doubt they'll have sufficient strength to push it yet, will they?
