Of course they will not permanantly be in the tank they're in now but as of right now I have two tiny babies in a 15gallon tank, with a bubble bar filter and VERY fine black sand. I've put in a few hides and have noticed a lot of you all on here literally FILL the tank with places to hide. I will post a pic of the kids in their tank for now, I am in the process of getting a much bigger tank and clearing a space for it as well (its gonna be a tight fit). So far the kids love the new setup and are doing quite well, have GREAT appetites (brine shrimp, bloodworms and have a lead to some blackworms and live brine) and are exploring a LOT. I was worried they wouldn't get along after all the stuff I have read too, since they are from different clutches, but they are pretty much the same size and the times I have seen them come into contact, they just keep on moving or even seen them up looking like they're nuzzling each others faces before moving along. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as far as what else I'm missing?
Im sure there can be more suggestions once I get the pictures up, which I am working to do soon.

Hi there Mae!!

Love your avatar, that's really cute. :D (My avatar is the aunt to your little guys.)

Actually, your two are from the same clutch, sorry if I confused you in some way...15 gallons is actually great for your two right now - that's lots of space. Unless you see them nipping or notice nips (missing parts that will grow back), I wouldn't worry about adding anything else right now except maybe a few plants (artificial are fine) for them to hang out in. Juvies are quite silly as they dart around, float, and sometimes just hang out in plants (if available). Others will probably offer you some creative alternatives but your set up sounds good to me. Glad to hear they are doing well and of course, out here, pictures are always welcome and encouraged!

Alright I got a few images but with the lighting in my room and all they're not the best...

Ah, ok I think actually you said that they were but I wasn't sure! Now I feel dumb  I haven't seen them nipping at all which was a HUGE relief because it scared me that they would. I am definitely going to add more plants and maybe another hide if I can fit it in there. They ate really well last night, I didn't know how it would work since I added the sand in there but they seem to know exactly what they're doing with the leftovers on the ground. I really have gotten super attached to the little guys, they're so much fun to watch!

I would add some more plants for them to play with/in. They are adorable! :)

I actually just bought some more plants today with the blackworms I got for them...they have been tearing the worms apart!!! Im gonna add the plants tomorrow after I clean them! Im super excited because they're glow in the dark!!!

Oh man! How sweet, I love that picture of Kipper in the plant!

You could go nuts adding stuff! The tank you've got there looks good, nice cosy hiding places :)

More of the same would be good, maybe some marimo moss balls? Mine love em, and they look wicked! Plants are always great, they'll hang out in them for hours. Sometimes I flop silk plants with big leaves over and make a jungle, they love that, too!

I don't know about everyone else, but my lot seem to like it when i have a reshuffle of the tank, every couple of weeks, gives them something new to explore!

Looking good. I'm with the others more plants but you've got those now so it's all good :) Our tanks aren't packed out with hides and the like for the axies ;) they are in there because we can't help ourselves  be careful or you'll end up having to get a bigger tank just so you can fit all the decorations you'll find that you want to put in there ;) it can be more than a little addictive.

They are Adorable! Congratulations

LOL mine go into a sulk for a couple of days after a good clean out which I do once a month or so. Chrysta didn't "speak" to me and refused to eat for almost a week the last time I moved a couple of rocks around to make one of their caves a little more cosy  I can only imagie what she'd do if I moved everything around every couple of weeks
 she is more than a little annoyed that I added a divider to one end of their tank on Saturday

Ive gotten the plants in but now I feel like its still not filled enough for them! What's happening to me?! Hahahah! I am actually on the hunt for a bigger tank as I type this, Im looking at all different avenues to obtain a bigger tank so I can really look the crazy pet lady, thankfully my boyfriend loves my pets and finds my axies really interesting. Im thinking I want to get them a huge 55gallon at least, moreso just in case I get another one, and I want to fill it with plants and hides and awesome fun stuff!

Lol! Chrysta sounds like a right stroppy little madam :p

Its so true re: ornaments! I'm always bringing cool rocks home. I pinched one from the garden at Apple this week, much to the confusion of all my colleagues, (and the security staff at Heathrow Airport) but hey, it'll make the tank 20% more cool!

In reality, I just wish I could live in the tank, it's way better than my flat!

SO I put the new plants in...they glow in the dark. I still don't think there's enough in the tank though. They need MORE!!! I think I'm addicted! Oh well, I'm enjoying it. The kids are getting along fine, love the new plants and are so cute to watch! I'll put up more pics soon!

:D Yep I'd say you have been well and truly bitten by the bug :D Can't wait to see new pics with all it's new plants.

So I really do hate my camera.... But heres what I could do..I tried to clean them up but I was rushing because work calls hahaha. Oh and I had just fed them so thats why it looks a hot mess at the bottom...they were working on their happy little cleanup, which is why I was able to get them in the pics....smart move me!

Your tank looks great, Mae! Wow, Wags is huge compared to Kipper! :D Personally, I think it looks great and you don't need another thing - except bigger hides as Wags is growing like crazy! It is very easy to get carried away when it comes to axolotls! :D :D

Keep an eye on the size difference - if it gets to be too big a difference, you might want to separate them until Kipper gets a chance to catch up. ;)

Ive been keepin an eye on them because Wags is just a monster...he eats like a horse and loves to swim around. He doesn't even bother hiding a lot, or at all for that matter. Where as Kipper likes to hide but comes out when I put food in, then hes a monster too. They don't seem to be too into even paying attention to each other, nothing major but I don't want Kipper to get hurt so I always check on them. Im glad what I've done to the tank is sufficient for now, I do want to add some sort of rock hide, but Im not sure what yet. And Im in the process of looking for a LARGE tank for them so they have a lot of space and I have a lot of space to fill and decorate! Im like the aquarium interior decorator I feel like!
