awww. poor thing. 2teaspoon salt per two ltrs of water. I use aquarium rock salt. hope it works. worked for me but it was no where near as bad, someone else might have other suggestions. do they get stressed on a bare bottom tank? very interested to know.. hope it all goes well.
also have your seperated her from the others? its spreds really quickly thats all. and salt bathing that many take quite a bit of time

Thank you for that, I will get onto it right away

No they don’t get stress, not very active axies at all. (The tank there in is just temporary)

She is still with the guy that she came with but should be getting separated today

Once again thanks Mel

Hey Nathan, yes, change the salt solution every bath. I remembered about this. Leave your little cuties in the salt bath solution for ten minutes at a time once or twice a day. I really hope they get better. Did you find them like that at the pet store? They are lucky that they have you to take care of them now, your little black female looks like my little Grimace Gargamel

thanx rheann, and no i didn't get them from the pet shop. i got given them because the owner (my cousin) didn't look after them anymore so his mum gave them to me along with the tank. obviously i could not refuse so now i have a 4 foot tank and two more axies.

I have these fungus tablets that I have used previously with my female axie and had great success and was just wondering whether I can use them.

it says: EACH TABLET CONTAINS 153.5 mg SULFADIAZINE 154.7 mg SULFADIMIDINE 154.1 mg SULFAMERAZINE (as the monosodium salts)

The product called wardley's triple sulfa aquarium tablets

gee not sure about the tabs, maybe look up what those ingredients are. hope someone can help.
4 ft tank is exciting! I would love to see pics of it set up!
the salt baths seem to work best for everyone I know. When mine had it I did twice a day for ten mins as rheann said

On axolotal.org they have triple sulfur in a another brand listed in the ok list so I’m just wondering if is the same sort of thing, I will look at the ingredient to the other brand and see if they are ok

Ok I have done the comparison of ingredients and they were the same so I am goner give it a try and if that doesn’t work I will start the salt baths. At least she’s eating

Nathan, do you still have your original light brown / yellow speckly female? Just curious - haven't been here for ages.

Good to hear. I think you're right about the bad jokes, it's genetic.

It runs in the family. All my family tell bad jokes. Be-vaire.

which ok list is that? would be great to see. where did you get them from?

Nathen - They look like they are in pretty rough shape, I hope they get better.

This should of been posted in the sick axolotl section. You have some good fungus pictures they should be over there. I will see if I can manage to move this thread.

Just a reminder; medications added directly the the aquarium can ruin the biological bacteria. In an established tank this is not good, so it is best to move the animals to a separate container/aquarium to treat them.
