New set up, new axie.

This is Squash, our new axie. Our last one died a week ago. We've taken the time to clean out the tank and set it differently. The vet said she believed the blister in Buffy's mouth was caused by a scratch from a piece of gravel. Hence, the new sand now.

What do you think?

Sorry to hear bout Buffy, poor thing. Love that white sand! Also, like what you've done with plants and those glasses! He looks like he's settling in

Thanks. We used light blue cardboard as a backing, and my daughter had the idea of sticking some of those glow in the dark stars on the cardboard. It looks absolutely fabulous at night, the stars all light up for an hour or so. The glasses are a pair of blue stemmed wine glasses I got from the op shop. I already had the blue gravel.

Looks magnificent! Thumbs up on the foodbowl - and hey, have you pinched my glass cubes?!
I'm sure I have some just like that in my tank... Spyyk???

I have to tell you, Amber, that a lot of my inspiration came from looking at pictures of your tank. I thought it very impressive, so if my glass rocks look like yours, there's a reason for that! I haven't been able to locate any blue ping pong balls though. But I think Spyyk's a champion.
I'll tell you, too, that Squash is very very fast, compared to Buffy.

My goodness!
What a fantastic idea! (wine glasses)

Your tank looks amazing as does your new axie!

Think I might have to hi-jack your idea when I finally get around to setting my new 4ft tank up, more so when it won't break the bank to get the right filter! he he he

All the best, hope your new axie has a long, happy, healthy life!

Regards Eastern_axle

Hey, thank you, I really appreciate that!
I'll have to tell her, she'll be delighted.
I gave mine a good shuffle and tidy last night, your tank gave me a good wakeup call that it was getting scruffy and overgrown.

Will take another photo when I'm home again tomorrow.
I have to say, I love converting things for 'lotl use.
I've had my grandmother and Spyyk both in stitched this time - I converted a budgie toy...
I took the bell off a set of plastic hoops, and threaded the hook onto a plastic knitting needle over the top of the tank - so there is a chain of bright hoops nearly reaching the floor.
Spyyk's really enjoying running around them, lifting them on her head and biting them!
She's been up ALLLLL night playing, which is impressive for her; she likes to sleep as much as I do.

Have a go, see what Squash recons. I only paid 99p for them. As long as they are pet grade and have no metal on, you can go nuts!
Looks funky too.

aw, sorry about your axie. I cannot imagine loosing a pet axie, I mean i went very sad after my betta died, I can imgine an axolotl, especially since some of mine are a few years old.

I like your tank, simple, yet functional. I have been in aquascaping and also into creating complicated habitat, but lately I have been drawn to functional simplicity.

I love the idea with the glasses. We were going to do that in our shrimp habitat, cocktail glasses with red marbles, but I am too serious with my shrimp to have fun like that. Maybe when i get extra room for a ghost shrimp colony Ill do that with them.

Squash is an awesome name! From your pics the name seems to fit!

I found a massive sparkly cut glass "diamond" to give her for christmas! :D
It's edges are nice and smooth, and I know she'll like staring into the reflections.
Don't say anything, but it was only £5 from TKMaxx!
Hehehe - more axie ideas for you!
