Hi Travis,
Good luck with this. I have just read your intro to the group and I thought I should point out that scientific names have formatting rules. These are simple and easy to remember.
[*]Scientific names should ideally be italicised where possible
The genus name (for example, Salamandra in Salamandra salamandra terrestris) should always begin with a capital letter, irrespective of its usage
The species name (salamandra in Salamandra salamandra terrestris) should be entirely lower case, irrespective of its usage
The subspecies name, if present (terrestris in Salamandra salamandra terrestris) should also be entirely lower case, irrespective of its usage
Strictly speaking we should only abbreviate genus and species names if they have already been used in the current text[/list]All the best,
John
