New Salamandra group

Hi Travis,

Good luck with this. I have just read your intro to the group and I thought I should point out that scientific names have formatting rules. These are simple and easy to remember.<ul>[*]Scientific names should ideally be italicised where possible <LI>The genus name (for example, <font color="ff0000">Salamandra</font> in <font color="ff0000">Salamandra</font> salamandra terrestris) should always begin with a capital letter, irrespective of its usage <LI>The species name (<font color="ff0000">salamandra</font> in Salamandra <font color="ff0000">salamandra</font> terrestris) should be entirely lower case, irrespective of its usage <LI>The subspecies name, if present (<font color="ff0000">terrestris</font> in Salamandra salamandra <font color="ff0000">terrestris</font>) should also be entirely lower case, irrespective of its usage <LI>Strictly speaking we should only abbreviate genus and species names if they have already been used in the current text[/list]All the best,

John

Oh thanks John, although I must admit this isn't my group. It is run by a fellow named Martin and he is the one who wrote this intro.
I will send him the link to this post so he can see your comments though.
Thanks,
Travis

Travis...

*great idea, count me in;
*shame you are not in the uk!
*is it me or is Yahoo the most enormous pain in the rear... anything you do re passwords, usernames, joinging groups entails a long wait for email confirmation?!
*nice picture in the Yahoo informaiton about the list - gigliolii right?

Matthew,
Yahoo is sort of a pain. I am not the one who created the group,Martin is the creator and I think he is over in your neck of the woods. I beleive that the main page is a giglioli picture. Look forward to seeing you on the list.
